I’ve heard that smoke alarms have expiration dates. Is that true?

Yes, smoke alarms have a life cycle of around 10 years. Even if it still seems to be working properly, it may pose a safety risk to you and your family. If your smoke alarm is nearing 10 years from the manufacture’s date, please contact the Zionsville Fire Department to discuss the best way to discard old alarms and how to replace them with new alarms.
